Brand Keeps Asking for Revisions? What's Normal, What to Charge and How to End a Collab

Brand keeps asking for revisions? What a normal number of rounds is, how to price reshoots and extra rounds, scripts, kill fees and how to end a collab.

When a brand keeps asking for revisions, the first place to look is your agreement, not the video. No law or industry body sets a number of revision rounds for brand deals or UGC. One or two included rounds is a common convention, but platform policies vary widely: as of October 2026, soona UGC lets brands request one round that the creator delivers within three days, minisocial includes one round in its managed projects, and Influee advertises unlimited revisions on its brand plans. The number that binds you is the one written into your deal.

Define what a round is, not just how many you include. A round is one combined list of notes on a draft, answered by one new version. Then sort every note before replying. A correction of your own miss is free. An edit revision counts toward your included rounds. A quality reshoot is yours to fix, while a preference reshoot, a new direction, a new deliverable such as a cutdown or raw clips, or a request to make the video work as an ad should be quoted before you do the work.

Price extra work from your own numbers. Divide the agreed fee by the hours the first version took to get your effective hourly rate, then multiply by the hours a new round or reshoot will take. For example, a $400 video that took 8 hours works out to $50 an hour, so a 1.5-hour round is $75 and a six-hour reshoot is $300. Three unpaid extra rounds would drop the same deal to $32 an hour. Later's 2026 pricing guide notes that rush timelines cost extra and paid-ads usage commonly adds 30% to 50%.

Repeated rejections usually follow a pattern: vague notes mean success was never defined, contradictory rounds mean several reviewers, a legal change means the brand's claims moved, the same note twice usually means a real miss, and requests to feel more like an ad mean paid use. To stop a loop, ask for one combined list from one decision-maker, label every version with its round number, flag the last included round, request a written reset when direction changes, quote anything beyond the agreement, and point to the review window if the brand goes quiet.

A kill fee is what a brand pays if it cancels after you have committed time, for a reason that is not your fault. There is no verified industry standard, so a common approach is to scale payment with progress: part of the fee after signing, more once filming starts, and the full fee for any deliverable submitted as agreed, with product kept. Negotiate it before you sign. Some changes should be refused in any round, such as removing the disclosure, adding claims you cannot back up, or changing your honest verdict.

You can often end a collab, but how cleanly depends on the stage: a polite decline before anything is agreed in writing, a written release after signing, and a mutual exit mid-loop with pay for work done or a refund. Keep every round in one thread with versioned files, a revision log and written approval. On Aurelia, each campaign sets its included revision rounds and counts them for you, feedback is pinned to the exact second of your video, the brand gets only the usage rights the campaign states, and approved work is always paid, even if the brand cancels the campaign afterwards.
