How Much to Charge for Usage Rights: 30-Day, 1-Year and Perpetual Pricing (2026)

How much to charge for usage rights in 2026: a pricing matrix for 30-day to perpetual organic and paid use, whitelisting and Spark Ads, plus reply scripts.

Usage rights are a license that lets a brand reuse your content in named places for a set time, while you keep ownership. Your base rate covers making the content and, for a sponsored post, publishing it on your own account. Reposts on the brand's channels, paid ads, ads run from your handle and longer terms are separate products, so quote each as its own line. Before you price, pin down six things: term, organic or paid, channels, whose handle, edits and territory. Organic usage means no ad spend behind the content, paid usage means the brand advertises with it, and in perpetuity means the license never ends.

The best-sourced anchor is Later's 2026 pricing guide: add 30 to 50 percent of your base rate when a brand wants to run your content as paid ads, with cost rising by duration and placement. Influencer Marketing Hub notes that campaign budgets can rise 30 percent to more than 100 percent once content extends into paid ads, landing pages, email and retail media. Aurelia's working scale puts 30 days of paid use at 30 to 40 percent of base, 90 days at 40 to 50, six months at 50 to 70 and a year at 80 to 100 percent. Organic reuse costs less.

Whitelisting, TikTok Spark Ads and Instagram or Facebook partnership ads all run your content as an ad under your name. Price them as paid usage in the top half of the range, as their own line, and agree the fee before you send a Spark Ads code or switch on ad permissions. End the authorization or permission with the paid term, never later. The brand pays the ad spend; your fee pays for the right to use your content and your name. Exclusivity is a separate fee.

A whitelisting rate and a usage-rights fee are separate lines on a quote. A usage-rights fee licenses the file itself: the brand may repost it, put it on its website or run it as an ad from its own account. A whitelisting rate pays for ads that run under your name and profile, through a Spark Ads code or a partnership-ad permission. Later's 2026 guide puts both at 30 to 50 percent of your base rate, so the two stack: on a $600 base, 90 days of paid usage plus 30 days of whitelisting comes to about $1,140 on Aurelia's working scale.

Perpetual usage has no end date, so treat it as a buyout of every future renewal. Aurelia's buyout rule, a negotiating position rather than a published standard, is to price perpetual use at no less than two years of your 12-month price for the same use. A license is not an assignment: under US copyright law, a transfer of copyright ownership must be in writing and signed by the owner. When a brand asks for perpetual, worldwide, all media at your base rate, counter with 12 months plus an agreed renewal price, or a priced perpetual license for named channels.

Three illustrative examples show the math. A pet creator with about 3K followers and a $150 base quotes $75 for 90 days of partnership ads on a gifted Reel. A TikTok creator with about 15K followers and a $500 base quotes $800 for the video, 30 days of Spark Ads and 90 days of organic reposts. A creator with about 50K followers and a $1,200 base counters a perpetual request with 12 months of paid use on two platforms for $1,200, or $2,400 for perpetual use in named channels.

When a brand says its budget is limited, hold your base and flex the license: offer 30 days of paid ads, 90 days of organic reposts or a longer paid term, and lock a renewal price. Before you send a file, code or permission, check that the agreement covers term and start date, type of use, channels, territory, edits, handle access, renewal price, end of term, exclusivity, ownership and payment. Marketplaces such as Backstage, #paid, Cohley, Billo and Collabstr publish their own default licenses, so read them before you price.

On Aurelia, brands post campaigns and you apply in a few taps. Every campaign shows your take-home pay, the product, the usage rights and the deadline before you apply. You own your content and brands get only the rights the campaign states. Your agreement is written from the campaign, paid ads come with a stated term of 3, 6 or 12 months covering whitelisting and Spark codes only with your consent, and exclusivity is its own term. The take-home shown already has Aurelia’s fee taken out, and you're paid to your bank automatically when the brand approves your work.
