Pet Influencer Brand Deals: How Pet Accounts Get Paid (and Which Brands Hire)

How pet influencer brand deals work: what dog and cat accounts charge, which pet brands hire creators, health claims to avoid, and a pet media kit template.

Pet influencer brand deals pay in five main ways: gifted product, a flat fee for a post on your own account, UGC videos the brand posts or runs as ads, affiliate commission, and longer ambassador or retainer deals. Gifted deals are the usual starting point, but free product still needs disclosure, generally counts as taxable income when it is payment for content, and never includes ad rights. A so-called ambassador program that asks you to buy product before you post is a sales pitch, not a brand deal.

There is no reliable earnings data for pet accounts specifically. Across all niches, MBO Partners' 2023 survey data found that 71% of US independent creators earned under $30,000 a year from creator work. Per-deal benchmarks are more useful: Influencer Marketing Hub's 2026 ranges put nano TikTok videos at $50 to $200 and micro at $200 to $800, while Later's per-post ranges run higher. The guide's worked example prices a posted TikTok for a 12K-follower dog account at $300, plus $120 for a 30-day Spark Ads code.

Pet brands that hire creators fall into nine categories: food, treats and chews, toys, grooming, supplements, gear, pet tech, litter and cleaning, and services such as pet insurance. Food and supplement work carries the most risk. The FTC says creators cannot make health claims a brand could not substantiate, the FDA treats disease claims for dog and cat diets as a regulated area, and TikTok restricts branded content for vitamin supplements. Describe what you saw and did, quote the brand's approved claims exactly, and check with your vet before any diet or supplement change.

Animal welfare comes before any shot: no skipped meals for a hungrier reaction, no heat, no restrictive costumes, scare pranks or stunts, and every chew supervised. The FDA warns that xylitol, found in some peanut and nut butters, can be life-threatening to dogs. To grow an account brands want to sponsor, pick a clear lane, shoot original footage, build repeatable series and track views, since Instagram stopped recommending accounts that mostly post unoriginal content.

To become a pet or dog influencer from zero, open the account in your own name, pick one platform and one lane such as a breed or puppy training, and post original videos in repeatable series. Pet UGC, where a brand posts your footage itself or runs it as ads, needs no following at all: prepare three to five sample videos, clean vertical files and written usage terms. As of October 2026, TikTok One projects and TikTok Shop affiliate in the US ask for 1,000 followers and Social Cat for 3,000, while Aurelia sets no follower minimum. The average paid UGC collaboration on Collabstr’s marketplace was $154 in its 2026 report.

A pet media kit needs a pet profile with breed, age, size and coat type, diet and allergy notes, temperament and skills, the person behind the account, audience results, and packages with clear boundaries. The guide includes a copyable pet casting card and a list of questions to send a brand before agreeing: product and ingredients, approved claims, deliverables, usage and ad rights, exclusivity, payment timing, and what happens if your pet refuses the product. Any use of your pet's face beyond the video is a separate license.

On Aurelia, brands post paid and gifted campaigns and pet creators apply in a few taps, with their media kit, stats and answers attached. Every campaign shows your take-home pay, the product, the usage rights and the deadline before you apply, and there is no follower minimum: brands see applicants ranked by fit with their brief, not by follower count. The take-home you see already has Aurelia’s fee taken out (a 10% creator fee as of October 2026). The agreement is written from the campaign, and you are paid to your bank automatically when the brand approves your work. Approved work is always paid, even if the brand cancels the campaign afterwards.
