What Is Canvas UGC? Rates, Red Flags and How to Judge an Offer
What canvas UGC means, how monthly brand-account offers and CPM bonuses work, the per-video math with a calculator, account risks and terms to get in writing.
Canvas UGC is an arrangement where a brand pays a creator a monthly fee to open and run new social accounts that post only the brand's product, usually every day. Many offers add view-based bonuses, which is why some creators call it CPM UGC. Unlike classic UGC, where the brand posts your videos on its own accounts, canvas work puts the posting and the job of growing an account from zero on you. The labels are loose, so always ask which accounts the posts go on.
The way to judge a canvas offer is to divide the guaranteed monthly fee by the number of videos required. Offers creators described on r/UGCcreators in September and October 2026 worked out to between $1.67 and $16.67 a video, including one campaign listed at $1,000 a month for 150 videos that a creator said was cut to a $250 base after onboarding. For context, SideShift states its platform median is $7 to $9 a video, and one widely discussed creator post argues for a floor of about $50.
View bonuses rarely rescue a low base fee. A canvas account starts with no followers, and Socialinsider's 2025 TikTok data shows accounts with 1–5K followers averaged 350 views per video. At an example rate of $1 per 1,000 views, that is 35 cents. The guide includes a calculator that turns any offer into a guaranteed rate per video, an effective hourly rate and the views each video would need for bonuses to double your pay, plus the bonus terms to pin down in writing.
Account terms matter as much as pay. Ask whose email and phone number go on each account, who holds the login, what happens when the deal ends and whether you are paid if an account is banned mid-term. TikTok's US Terms of Service tell users not to give others access to their account or transfer it without TikTok's permission. Disclosure rules still apply on a brand-only account: disclose the paid relationship on each post, use the platform labels, never claim experiences you have not had and never post as a made-up person.
Before creating any account, get the base fee, video count, platforms, bonus rules, payment schedule, revision limits, exclusivity, term and disclosure method in writing. Red flags include pay that changes after onboarding, chat-only promises, payment only at the end of the term and requests to pay a fee or share a personal login. Canvas work can make sense when the guaranteed rate meets your own floor without bonuses and you can batch-film on a schedule.
The main alternative to canvas UGC is a campaign priced per deliverable, and that is how Aurelia works. Brands post campaigns on Aurelia, and creators of any audience size apply in a few taps with their media kit attached. Every campaign shows your take-home pay, the deliverables, the usage rights and the deadline before you apply, and the take-home you see already has Aurelia’s fee taken out. There are no new accounts to run: you own your content, the agreement is written from the campaign, revision rounds stay inside the brief, and you're paid to your bank after the brand approves your work.
