How to Get Brand Deals as a Small YouTuber (Sponsorships, Shorts and BrandConnect)
How to get brand deals as a small YouTuber: no subscriber minimum, 2026 sponsorship rates, integration vs Shorts pricing, and a pitch template.
YouTube publishes no subscriber minimum for a sponsorship you arrange directly with a brand. The 500 and 1,000 subscriber thresholds people quote belong to the YouTube Partner Program, which governs YouTube's own payouts and tools. From February 1, 2027, new applicants for ad revenue sharing need 1,000 subscribers plus 8,000 watch hours in a year or 20 million Shorts views in 90 days, which can make sponsorships a more realistic first income for a small channel than ads. Whatever your size, every sponsored video needs YouTube's paid promotion box ticked.
Sponsors buy specific placements: a 30 to 90 second integration inside a regular video, a dedicated review or tutorial, a sponsored Short, a Short cut from the integration footage, affiliate links, or gifted product. Small channels compete on fit rather than reach. In CreatorIQ's 2025-26 report, brands ranked brand suitability first and follower count last among selection factors, and HypeAuditor's 2025 data shows most YouTube channels average under 10K views, so a clearly defined audience is the main selling point.
Published 2026 benchmarks vary widely. Influencer Marketing Hub puts sponsored YouTube videos at $20 to $200+ for channels under 10K subscribers and $200 to $1,000+ for 10K to 100K subscribers. Shopify's estimates start higher, and Collabstr's marketplace reports an average paid YouTube collaboration of $255. For a small channel these sources meet around $200 to $255 per sponsored video. Price dedicated videos higher for the full production, quote paid ad usage separately (Later lists 30 to 50 percent on top), and charge extra for rush timelines and exclusivity.
YouTube sponsorship rates are quoted two ways: per video and per 1,000 views. Influencer Marketing Hub's 2026 per-video benchmarks run from $20 to $200+ for channels under 10K subscribers to $20,000 to $50,000+ above 1 million. Creators Agency, a YouTube sponsorship agency, publishes per-1,000-views ranges from $4 to $12 for gaming up to $50 to $200 for finance, with dedicated videos at 2 to 4 times the mid-roll rate and Shorts at about 60 percent of long-form rates. At 2,500 average views that math gives $10 to $150 in most niches, which is why small channels quote a flat fee and use the per-view number as a check.
YouTube Creator Partnerships, the brand matchmaking many creators still call BrandConnect, lives in YouTube Studio under Earn and the Partnerships tab where it is available. YouTube lists joining the Partner Program as the first step, asks creators to set pricing preferences and a contact email, and says creators who shared channel insights received over twice as many brand inquiries. There is no application form: YouTube's help page says a creator must be 18 or older, in the Partner Program, based in an available country and free of active Community Guidelines strikes. Open Call, announced in June 2025, is invitation-only and lets brands post briefs that creators answer with videos, but only selected videos are paid, so treat it as optional spec work.
To find sponsors, search the phrases your viewers use, note videos carrying YouTube's paid promotion label, read description boxes for codes and affiliate links, and start with products already in your videos. Pitch each brand with one line on your audience, honest 30-day and 90-day view numbers, viewer location and age from YouTube Analytics, a specific integration idea and a clear price. Before filming, agree placement, approvals, link duration, ad usage, exclusivity, payment and disclosure in writing, and ignore any sponsor that asks you to install software or sign in through an email link.
Aurelia makes brand deals easier for small YouTubers by turning the hunt around: brands post campaigns, including for YouTube, and creators apply in a few taps with their media kit, stats and answers attached. Aurelia sets no follower minimum, and brands see applicants ranked by fit with their brief, not by subscriber count. Every campaign shows the creator's take-home pay, with Aurelia's fee already taken out, the product, the usage rights and the deadline before they apply. The agreement is generated from the campaign, creators accept and sign in one step, and they are paid to their bank after the brand approves their work.
