How to Find Local Influencers Near You (and Run a Local Campaign)
Find local influencers near you with eight free methods, check that their audience is local, and run a local campaign: templates, costs and real examples.
To find local influencers, search your city plus your category on TikTok and Instagram, open the location tags of venues near you, and look at who already tags your business. Local influencer marketing works best with small creators whose followers live close enough to visit. Start with five to ten of them, host each for a visit or a meal, and pay a fee for any post you need on a set date. Before you book anyone, ask for a screenshot of their audience locations, because a creator who lives nearby can still have most followers elsewhere.
Real examples show the pattern. Cava spends just over 1% of revenue on marketing and reaches out to local creators and influencers, its brand and marketing chief told Marketing Dive in August 2026. Portillo’s used creator-made videos aimed at Chicago viewers, and TikTok’s case study reports an 18% rise in site visits in 24 hours. Tourism Kelowna works with local creators under 20,000 followers; its 2024 cohort of five featured 44 local businesses and drew over 689K views, by its own count. Frankensons Pizzeria in Las Vegas had lines down the street after one TikTok review by Keith Lee, PMQ Pizza reported.
Eight free methods build a first list of 20 names in an afternoon: your own tagged posts and location tag, TikTok searches for your city plus your category, TikTok’s opt-in Local Feed (added for US users in February 2026), Instagram location pages for nearby venues, city hashtags and roundup accounts, the creators your neighboring businesses repost, Google searches limited to Instagram or TikTok, and an open call on your own story and counter. Restaurants should look for food creators who film inside venues, gyms for instructors and members, and salons for creators who film appointments.
Location filters find where a creator is based, which isn’t always where the audience lives. As of October 2026, Collabstr’s free plan includes a location filter by country, city or region, and Modash filters by audience location at city or country level from $199 a month billed yearly. To check that an audience is local, ask for the top-locations panel from the creator’s analytics, read the comments for local voices, count how many recent posts were filmed near you, and ask a past local partner how it went. In CreatorIQ’s 2025–2026 survey, brands ranked follower count last among selection factors.
Three templates cover most local campaigns. The visit: a free visit, class or service for the creator and a guest, in exchange for one short video with your location tagged. The gifted meal or preview night: a hosted tasting for a small group before an opening or a new menu. The paid post: a fee plus the visit, for a video on a set date with the right to repost it or run it as an ad. Influencer Marketing Hub’s 2026 planning ranges put a nano creator’s Instagram post at $10 to $100 or more and a TikTok video at $50 to $200.
On Aurelia, a local business posts one campaign and the agency work happens in software. Choose the Local perk or Event campaign type, or start from a Restaurants and local template. The campaign goes live in the Aurelia creator marketplace, application questions screen for creators who can visit in person, and Aurelia’s picks rank applicants by fit with the brief. Creators you found yourself can be invited with one link. The agreement is written from the campaign, Aurelia Manager sends the reminders, and creators are paid once the brand approves their work. The workspace is free, with one platform fee added on top of the creator budget.
