How to Find Influencers for Your Brand (Free Methods, Tools and Marketplaces)
How to find influencers for your brand in 2026: free search tactics for Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, tools compared by price, and how to let creators apply.
How to find influencers for your brand comes down to four methods: start with customers and followers who already post about you; search Instagram, TikTok and YouTube for the problem your product solves and for competitors' tagged and #ad posts; add a search tool or platform marketplace when you need filters at volume; or post one campaign and let creators apply. Finding creators is the step brands struggle with most. In Influencer Marketing Hub's 2025 survey, finding influencers was the top in-house challenge at 30%, and its 2026 survey found discovery and vetting was the task brands outsource most.
Before you search, decide four things: whether you need a posting influencer or a UGC creator who sends files for ads, which platform your buyers watch, which tier fits your budget, and whether you will pay, gift product or both. Choose on fit rather than follower count. In CreatorIQ's 2025 to 2026 report, brand suitability ranked first among creator selection factors (22%) and follower count last (8%). The cheapest creators to find are people who already know your brand: your Tagged tab, customers who post, detailed reviewers, frequent commenters and your newsletter audience.
On Instagram, search problem keywords and niche hashtags, open competitors' tagged posts, and look for the Paid partnership label, which Instagram requires for any compensation including gifted product. Meta merged its creator tools into a Creator Marketing Hub in September 2026. On TikTok, search the way buyers describe their problem, read view counts on profile grids and use TikTok One, which lets brands search creators with filters and open public application campaigns. On YouTube, search reviews and comparisons, look for the paid promotion disclosure and check YouTube Creator Partnerships through Google Ads.
To find influencers in your niche, map three rings: core creators who post about your category, problem creators who post about the job your product does, and audience creators your buyers follow for other reasons. Then run the same fit check on everyone: niche share in the last 12 posts, median views of the last 10 videos, engagement against a benchmark calculated the same way, comment quality, a clearly disclosed sponsorship history and a brand-safety scan. Since October 2024 the FTC's Consumer Reviews and Testimonials Rule has banned buying or selling fake followers and views.
Search tools buy speed, not replies. As of October 2026, Modash Essentials costs $199 a month billed annually or $299 monthly, Heepsy has a free plan and a Starter plan from $69 a month billed annually, GRIN has a free plan and a $200 Starter plan, and Collabstr adds a 10% fee at checkout on its free plan. In an illustrative example, finding and fit-checking 60 handles to shortlist eight creators took about nine hours, plus two hours of messaging for five bookings.
The fourth method flips the funnel. On Aurelia, the creator campaign marketplace, a brand posts one campaign with the pay, product, deliverables and usage rights, and creators of any size apply with their media kit, stats and answers attached. Aurelia's picks rank applicants by fit with the brief, with plain reasons, a risk line and work samples, and the brand makes every call. Offers go out automatically, creators sign an agreement written from the campaign, product ships only to signed creators, and Aurelia pays each creator once the brand approves their work. It is free to start, with one platform fee on top of the creator budget.
