How to Make Money on Instagram in 2026: Monetization Requirements, Brand Deals and Affiliate Links
How to make money on Instagram in 2026: every monetization requirement from Meta’s help pages, what 1 million views pays, brand rates and a calculator.
To make money on Instagram in 2026, stack Instagram’s own tools with income from brands. As of October 2026, Meta’s help pages list these requirements: Gifts on Reels need a professional account, age 18 and at least 500 followers, and pay $0.01 for every star. Going Live, which badges depend on, needs a public account with 1,000 or more followers. The creator marketplace asks for a public professional account, age 18 and 1,000 followers. Bonuses are invite-only and limited-time. Paid brand campaigns, UGC and affiliate links have no Instagram follower minimum.
Instagram Subscriptions let creators set a monthly price for subscriber-only content. Instagram says its own revenue share is currently 0%, while Apple and Google take 30% of in-app purchases. Meta’s eligibility page asks for a professional account, age 18, the Subscriptions terms and one of 49 countries, and it names no follower count, so the 10,000-follower rule repeated in older guides is not on it. Instagram pays Gifts, Subscriptions and badge earnings around the 21st of each month, with a $5 minimum balance in the US and $25, or $100 by wire, elsewhere.
Instagram does not pay per view. As of October 2026 it has no open program that pays creators for views, so 1 million views earns nothing from Instagram on its own. Bonuses reward how Reels and photos perform, but they are invite-only and Instagram publishes no rates. A million views is worth what it earns elsewhere: stars from Gifts, proof for a higher brand-deal quote, affiliate commission on tagged products, and a separate fee when a brand runs the Reel as a partnership ad.
Brand rates for Instagram are negotiated ranges. Influencer Marketing Hub’s 2026 planning benchmarks put a post at $10 to $100 or more for accounts under 10K followers and $100 to $500 or more for 10K to 100K followers, while Later’s 2026 guide puts those tiers at $100 to $500 and $500 to $2,500. Collabstr reports an average paid Instagram collaboration of $193 on its marketplace. Later says Reels typically add 20 to 30% to a feed-post rate, Stories run about 50% less, and paid-ads usage adds 30 to 50%.
Since September 15, 2026, brands find Instagram creators through Meta’s Creator Marketing Hub, which merged the creator marketplace and the Partnership Ads Hub. Since March 24, 2026, creators in the US, Brazil, India, Indonesia and Thailand can make Reels shoppable with up to 30 tagged products and earn affiliate commission, as long as each product sits in a brand’s Meta catalog. To protect income, use the Paid Partnership label on paid and gifted posts, add a clear ad disclosure, post original work, use royalty-free audio and never buy followers.
Aurelia makes brand income on Instagram easier. Brands post campaigns and creators apply in a few taps, with their media kit, stats and answers attached. There is no follower minimum, applicants are ranked by fit with the brief, and content-only UGC campaigns need no posting audience. Every campaign shows your take-home pay, with Aurelia’s fee already taken out, plus the product, the usage rights and the deadline before you apply. The agreement is written from the campaign, the brand’s budget is paid in before a campaign goes live and held until work is approved, and you’re paid to your bank automatically when the brand approves your work.
