Influencer Marketing Trends 2026: What Changed for Small Brands

Influencer marketing trends for 2026, each with a dated source: creator content as ads, small creators, Meta’s Creator Marketing Hub and a 90-day plan.

The influencer marketing trends that matter in 2026 are practical ones. Creator videos became the ad, budgets moved to small creators chosen for fit, deals got longer, paid work replaced gifting alone, and Meta and TikTok built creator marketplaces into their ad tools. For a small brand, or an established brand running its first creator campaign, that means hiring eight to ten small creators, paying a fee on top of the product and agreeing paid-ads rights before anyone films. Then put a small ad budget behind the best two videos and rebook the best three creators.

Four brands show the shifts at work. Chili’s told an Advertising Week panel in October 2026 that its paid media is now fully creator-led; Restaurant Dive had reported comparable sales up 31% in the quarter ending December 25, 2024. Shapermint works with over 5,000 TikTok Shop affiliates, many in their 40s and 50s, and Modern Retail reported it is on track for about $10 million in TikTok Shop sales this year. Favorite Daughter had 25 small creators go live on one morning and did $2 million in sales that day. Bob’s Discount Furniture gave creator couples control of its shoppable series.

The evidence behind the trends is dated and sourced. In CreatorIQ’s June 2026 survey, creator content made up 44% of brands’ paid media creative on average, and 77% of marketing leaders said it outperforms traditional branded ad creative. In Influencer Marketing Hub’s 2026 survey of 600+ respondents, about half planned to expand work with nano, micro and UGC creators, 87.49% expected budgets to rise and 66.3% ran programs entirely in-house. CreatorIQ also found that gifting as a top driver of ROI fell from 71% of brands in 2020 to 20% in 2025.

The platforms changed too. Meta launched its Creator Marketing Hub on September 15, 2026 inside Meta Business Suite and Ads Manager, merging the Creator Marketplace and the Partnership Ads Hub. Instagram made Reels shoppable in March 2026, with up to 30 products per Reel, and stopped recommending accounts that mostly post unoriginal content. TikTok’s Creator Marketplace now sits inside TikTok One, which added Creator AI Search, and Tubefilter reported that TikTok One Pay pays creators for brand deals within 30 days of posting. TikTok also opened Spark Ads authorization to partners such as ShopMy.

A 90-day plan turns the trends into one campaign: pick one product and one goal, post a campaign for eight to ten small creators with a fee plus product, choose on fit, review each draft once, put ad budget behind the best two videos and rebook the best three creators. As of October 2026, Influencer Marketing Hub’s planning ranges put one TikTok video at $50 to $200 from a nano creator and $200 to $800 from a micro creator. Virtual influencers, celebrity deals and large productions can wait.

On Aurelia, a brand posts one campaign and the agency work happens in software. The campaign goes live in the Aurelia creator marketplace, Aurelia reads every application against the brief and ranks who to hire, and the agreement is written from the campaign with optional paid-ads terms of 3, 6 or 12 months. The brand pays one campaign order through Stripe, the budget is held until work is approved, and creators are paid to their bank automatically when the brand approves their work. The workspace is free, with one platform fee added on top of the creator budget.
