Influencer Marketing Budget: How Much Should a Small Brand Spend in 2026? (Calculator)
Plan an influencer marketing budget line by line: a free calculator, what $1,000, $5,000 and $15,000 buy in 2026, a budget split and costs most plans miss.
How much should a small brand spend on influencer marketing in 2026? For a first campaign, a realistic budget is about $1,000 to $5,000. At current benchmark rates that pays for five to ten nano or micro creators plus product, shipping, ad rights, fees and a buffer. Influencer Marketing Hub puts a micro creator TikTok video at $200 to $800, Later puts a micro post at $500 to $2,500, and Collabstr reports average paid collaborations of $186 to $193 on TikTok and Instagram. The creator fee is only the start of the budget.
How much does influencer marketing cost by tier and goal? As of October 2026, Influencer Marketing Hub’s planning ranges for one TikTok video are $50 to $200 for a nano creator, $200 to $800 for micro, $800 to $5,000 for macro and $5,000 to $50,000 or more for mega. Later’s per-post ranges run from $100 to $500 for nano up to $10,000 to $50,000 or more for mega. By goal, illustrative all-in costs are about $1,900 to $4,000 for ten awareness videos, about $3,000 for ten UGC videos with paid-ads usage and about $1,150 for thirty gifted boxes.
Size the budget from the work rather than from a percentage of revenue, since we found no reliable published benchmark for small brands. Count the posts or videos you need and multiply by the all-in cost per creator. For a first test, five to ten creators with one deliverable each and a single goal is a sensible rule of thumb. If the content will run as ads, part of the money can come from paid social: CreatorIQ found nearly two-thirds of organizations raising creator budgets moved money from paid media.
Three illustrative starter budgets show what the money buys. About $949 covers five nano creators at $125 each with product, a 10% fee and a 10% buffer. About $4,891 covers ten micro creators at $300, paid-ads rights on the best three videos, $400 of ad spend, product, fees and a buffer, or roughly $489 per creator all in. About $14,912 covers twenty creators, ad rights on the best six and $3,000 of ad spend. In these examples creator pay is 54% to 66% of the total.
Later suggests splitting an influencer budget into creator fees (50 to 60%), usage rights and ads (20 to 30%), platform or agency fees (10 to 15%) and contingency (5 to 10%). Treat it as a check, not a rule: product and shipping have no line of their own, and the ranges do not sum to exactly 100%. If less than half goes to creators, a subscription or minimum fee may be too large for the spend. If usage and ads are near zero, the content cannot be reused in ads.
First budgets often forget product at cost and postage, paid-ads usage (commonly 30 to 50% extra), the ad spend itself, rush fees, management or creator-side fees, extra hooks and revisions, the margin lost to discount codes, a replacement creator, tax paperwork such as W-9s and the $2,000 Form 1099-NEC threshold for 2026 payments, and the brand team’s own time. Fixed subscriptions should be annualized and divided by the campaigns actually run before choosing how to hire.
The guide includes an interactive budget calculator, a copy-ready budget template with a free spreadsheet download for Google Sheets and Excel, and a plan for phasing a full year: test, measure cost per approved video, rebook what worked and re-price each quarter. On Aurelia, a brand starts free with no subscription, sets the pay per creator and pays one campaign order: the creator budget plus a platform fee added on top, starting at 10% with a $99 minimum per campaign, shown before paying. Creators see their take-home pay before they apply, with Aurelia’s 10% creator fee (as of October 2026) already taken out. Aurelia ranks applicants by fit, generates the contracts and tracks shipping. The budget is held until the brand approves the work, each creator is paid automatically on approval, and creator budget the brand doesn’t spend comes back after the campaign closes.
