Hire UGC Creators: Prices, Where to Find Them and How to Brief
Hire UGC creators in 2026: what a video costs ($90–$180 before extras), where to hire with fees compared, a copy-ready brief and a 3-week hiring plan.
Hiring UGC creators in 2026 costs less than most brands expect for the video itself and more than they expect for everything around it. On Collabstr’s marketplace the average paid UGC collaboration was $154, and Influee lists $91 as the average 30-second US video. Creator rate guides suggest $150 to $212 as an asking price, about $50 per extra hook and 30 to 50% of the base rate for raw footage. Later’s 2026 guide says paid-ad usage commonly adds 30 to 50%, and timelines under two weeks usually cost extra. Product, shipping and platform fees come on top.
There are five ways to hire UGC creators: direct, freelance sites such as Fiverr, Upwork and Backstage, per-video platforms such as Billo and Trend, creator marketplaces such as Aurelia, Collabstr, Insense and JoinBrands, and managed services such as Minisocial. As of October 2026, Aurelia charges brands a platform fee on top of the creator budget, starting at 10% with a $99 minimum per campaign, and creators a 10% creator fee, already taken out of the take-home shown before they apply. Collabstr charges brands a 10% hiring fee on its free plan and creators a separate 15% on their payout, Billo sells prepaid packs from $500, Trend’s Starter pack is $550 for up to six videos, Insense’s Brand plan is $500 a month billed quarterly plus a 10% fee, and Minisocial says its campaigns start at $3,000 for ten creators, creator fees included.
Aurelia is our pick for brands that want to choose their own UGC creators without the paperwork. A brand posts one campaign, creators apply, and Aurelia ranks the applicants by fit with the brief, with plain reasons and real work samples. Offers go out automatically, agreements are generated from the campaign and signed in one step, and product ships only to creators who have signed. The brand pays one campaign order through Stripe before the campaign goes live, the budget is held until the work is approved, each creator is then paid to their bank automatically, and usage rights are recorded at closeout. Approved work is always paid, and a brand can cancel a campaign at any point and get its campaign budget back, minus the platform fee. The workspace is free, with a platform fee added on top of the creator budget, and creators see their take-home pay, with Aurelia’s fee already taken out, before they apply.
The hiring flow has seven steps: write the spec and a one-page brief with usage decided up front, post it where creators come to you, shortlist three creators for a paid test, sign the agreement before anything ships, ship with tracking, review drafts against the brief and pay on approval, then file the rights and rebook the creators whose hooks win. For a physical product, plan on about three weeks from brief to approved videos, including roughly two weeks for creators to use the product and film it.
A good UGC brief fits on one page: the product, the customer and their problem, one message to remember, the deliverables and hook ideas, what must be shown and said, claims to avoid, style, usage rights, disclosure, dates and pay. Use royalty-free audio for anything you might run as an Instagram partnership ad. Before filming, agree the revision rounds, the usage license and its term, Spark Ads or partnership-ad access, exclusivity, ownership and payment timing in writing. For payments made in 2026, a business that pays a US creator $2,000 or more for services generally files Form 1099-NEC.
