Influencer Marketing for Clothing and Jewelry Brands: Try-Ons, Gifting and UGC (With Brand Examples)

Influencer marketing for fashion brands: what Abercrombie & Fitch, UGG, Coach, Gymshark, Aerie and Mejuri did with creators, and how to copy it.

Influencer marketing for fashion brands works because shoppers can’t try anything on through a screen, so they look for someone their size who already did. The approach that works is plain: real people wear the product on camera and describe it in their own words. For a small clothing or jewelry brand, that means one hero piece, about eight creators across your size range, three to five pieces each, and footage you can reuse on product pages and in ads.

Established brands have used creators to win new shoppers. Abercrombie & Fitch, named America’s most hated retail brand in 2016, built a large network of creators, gave them talking points and left the rest to them; Modern Retail reported “decade-high” first-quarter net sales by July 2023. UGG moved its fall campaign to July in 2023, with influencers posting from July 15 to August 15, and saw twice the Instagram engagement of the year before, while Deckers reported quarterly UGG sales up 28.1%.

Coach put its marketing behind one hero bag. Glossy reported that Gen Z made up 95% of visitors to its North American Tabby pop-ups and that #CoachTabby had more than 23 million TikTok views. Gymshark began by giving free gear to weightlifting influencers, and Forbes reported that daily sales rose from $450 to $45,000; paid deals of as little as $500 a month followed. Aerie built a product category around one customer’s TikTok after her video reached 7.8 million views and the leggings sold out six times, according to Glossy.

Jewelry brands use the same playbook with different creators. Mejuri’s chief executive advises building a community of influencers and stylists, Marketing Dive reported. TOUS had two nail artists propose nail jewelry sets on a TikTok live and let viewers vote; TikTok’s case study says more than 40,000 votes were cast and the collection quickly sold out. Across all six brands the pattern is the same four moves: pick one hero piece, hire many voices and let them talk, lead with product before paying, and start early with stock ready.

The formats that work answer a shopper’s question. Try-on hauls with height and size stated show fit; one piece styled three or four ways shows what to wear it with; macro close-ups with a scale reference and a week of wear show the true size and shine of jewelry. Cast one creator per size band, two in best-selling bands, and ask every applicant for their usual size, height and, for jewelry, ring size or piercings. Send three to five pieces, confirm sizes in writing and set one exchange rule.

Rates vary widely. Influencer Marketing Hub’s 2026 planning range for a micro creator’s TikTok video is $200 to $800, Later’s per-post range is $500 to $2,500, and Collabstr reports average paid collaborations under $200 on its marketplace. A worked example for eight creators across four size bands comes to about $3,294 before platform fees, and Aurelia’s budget guide puts a small brand’s first campaign at about $1,000 to $5,000 all in. Plan five to six weeks from brief to live.

On Aurelia, a brand posts one campaign from a fashion or jewelry template or the brief it already has, and creators apply with the size, height and ring size answers the brand asked for. Aurelia ranks applicants by fit with the brief, agreements are generated from the campaign, every address and tracking number sits in one place, content is reviewed with comments at the exact second, and creators are paid once the brand approves. The workspace is free, with one platform fee on top of the creator budget.
