Influencer and UGC Marketing for Food and Beverage Brands (With Brand Examples)

Influencer marketing for food brands, taught through six real campaigns from Chipotle, Dunkin’, Ocean Spray, Graza, Olipop and Crumbl, plus formats and costs.

Influencer marketing for food brands works when creators film the moment of eating or drinking and the brand builds on what creators already make. Nobody can taste through a phone, so a first bite with a real reaction, the crack and pour of a can, a recipe or a fridge restock is the closest a product gets to an in-store sample. This guide walks through six public campaigns from Chipotle, Dunkin’, Ocean Spray, Graza, Olipop and Crumbl, what each brand reported, and what a smaller or older brand can copy this month.

Chipotle turned a TikTok order into a menu item. After creators Alexis Frost and Keith Lee posted a fajita quesadilla hack in late 2022, Chipotle added the Fajita Quesadilla to its app and website on March 2, 2023, with both creators’ orders listed by name. CEO Brian Niccol told investors the launch nearly doubled the chain’s quesadilla business and produced two of its top digital sales days. Dunkin’ did something similar in 2020 with Charli D’Amelio’s usual cold brew order: a Dunkin’ executive said daily app downloads rose 57% on launch day.

Ocean Spray is the comeback story. In September 2020, Nathan Apodaca posted a video of himself skateboarding to work while sipping Ocean Spray Cran-Raspberry, and it passed 24 million views. The brand had not planned it. Eleven days later it gave him a truck loaded with juice and its CEO posted his own version, and Modern Retail later reported that the company’s products flew off the shelves. The lesson for an established brand: creators are probably already filming your product, so search for those videos, thank the creators and build a campaign around them.

Small brands can copy the gifting plays. Before olive oil brand Graza launched in January 2022, it sent more than 100 gifted packages to creators and asked for nothing in return, and its consultant told Marketing Brew the launch sold out. Olipop gifts hundreds of 12-packs every month and counted more than 900 posts using its soda in one mocktail trend in January 2024. Crumbl’s weekly flavor rotation gave creators a new review to film every week. The shared pattern: start with what creators already do, send product to many small creators, give them a reason to film again, then pay to scale what worked.

Nine formats cover most food and beverage UGC: first-bite taste tests, pour and first sip, fridge or pantry restocks, recipes, flavor rankings, routine videos, coffee and tea morning rituals, find-it-in-the-aisle retail videos and seasonal moments. Cast creators who already eat, drink or cook on camera, and ask what they can eat before you pick anyone. Ship shelf-stable product by ground, use insulated liners and cold packs for anything that melts, and send chilled or frozen product overnight or two-day early in the week. Ask for natural sound, a first bite in the opening seconds and a readable label.

Rate benchmarks disagree: Influencer Marketing Hub’s 2026 planning ranges put a TikTok video at $50 to $200 for nano creators and $200 to $800 for micro creators, while Later’s 2026 guide runs higher. An illustrative first batch of 30 gifted nano creators plus five paid UGC creators with 30 days of paid usage comes to about $2,000 before platform fees. Gift a wider group first, then pay the best creators for UGC with ad rights. Ask every creator to switch on the platform’s paid-partnership label and say when the product was gifted.

On Aurelia, a food or beverage brand posts one campaign and the coordination runs in software. Start from a Food and snacks, Beverages or Coffee and tea template, or import the brief you already have. Application questions screen allergies, diets and delivery days, Aurelia’s picks rank applicants by fit with the brief, creators sign the agreement generated from your campaign before product ships, addresses are validated in one place with tracking imported from your 3PL, and creators are paid once you approve their work. It’s free to start, with one fee on top of your creator budget.
